UGR develops project led by Nuria Pistón and Regino Zamora to demonstrate how trees reduce pollution and urban heat

The University of Granada (UGR) has launched the BIOCITREES project to investigate how urban trees improve the quality of life in cities. This study, led by Nuria Pistón and Regino Zamora, focuses on three aspects: the capacity of trees to retain pollutants, their effect on microclimate regulation to mitigate heat islands, and their role in maintaining urban biodiversity. The project is being carried out in parks in Granada and is funded by the European Commission.
