Enrique Pérez Sánchez-Cañete Leads Study on the Impact of Poplar Groves on Air Quality

Enrique Pérez Sánchez-Cañete, professor at the University of Granada and member of IISTA, led a study that showed how poplar groves help improve air quality. The results revealed that the air in the poplar groves was “good” 97% of the time, compared to other areas of Granada, and that poplar trees buffered pollution from traffic and Saharan dust. Pérez Sánchez-Cañete stressed the importance of nature-based strategies, such as tree planting, to reduce pollution in urban and peri-urban areas.
