The University of Granada leads the ‘Smart EcoMountains’ project to analyze the environment through artificial intelligence.
The University of Granada (UGR) launched the Smart EcoMountains project two years ago, as part of the European initiative LifeWatch ERIC, aimed at, among other things, establishing a protocol capable of making sense of this vast amount of data and developing an algorithm capable of analyzing and predicting climate change. While monitoring Sierra Nevada and assessing the consequences of climate change in this natural environment, a method of integrating and validating data from various sources is being developed “to analyze them with a global vision,” explains Regino Zamora, Professor of Ecology at UGR and scientific coordinator of the project, “so that it can be useful for any scientist in any other ecosystem or natural environment on the planet.”
